The Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications of the Government of Chile is developing the process of tender for the Concession of Routes Use for the Public Transport System of the City of Santiago: Transantiago. This initiative will allow to renew the contract of approximately 50% of the buses that transit through the capital of Chile.
For this reason, a specialized Technical Secretariat has been created, which has worked together with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (InvestChile) and ProChile, in order to invite transport operators, the financial sector and suppliers from around the world to participate in this tender process, a milestone for a new stage of the metropolitan public transport system.
The contracts will be awarded in early 2018. The new concessionaires will be part of the urban life of a modern city, which seeks to have more efficient trips, with reliable schedules, comfortable for users and respectful of the environment.
